Women Affairs Ministry commits to development of women, children, vulnerable

Federal Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs has reassured its commitment to the development and welfare of women, children and vulnerable seeking their well-being.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Barr Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye disclosed this on her X handle.

Kennedy-Ohanenye said, “Two months ago, our Ministry encountered two women in distress on the streets of Abuja. They had demonstrably suffered abuse, including sexual gender-based violence.

“We ensured they both received appropriate medical treatment at a general hospital. From the reports,it shows they have been undergoing successful medication and therapy.

“During our visit today to the rehabilitation center for follow up, I was impressed by their swift progress. This is a testament to the excellent work of the general hospital staff.

“It is clear that with continued recovery, this young women will soon be able to reintegrate with their family.”

She also said that the Ministry of Women Affairs remains committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of women and children throughout Nigeria adding that, “We will continue to fulfill our mandate to protect vulnerable individuals.”
