IGP inaugurates simulation centre to enhance personnel’s capacity

The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Olukayode Egbetokun, has inaugurated the Nigeria Police Force Indoor Shooting Simulation Centre to enhance the training capacity of the force for its personnel.

Inaugurating the centre on Wednesday in Abuja, Egbetokun said the centre was a cutting-edge facility that would set a new standard for law enforcement training in Nigeria and beyond.

He said the setting up of the centre was a testament to the innovative spirit and collaborative efforts of the Nigeria Police and its partners, Consortium of Simulation Technologies Ltd, Barcode Centre Ltd and Automatic Identification and Mobility.

“This Centre, being commissioned today, is a key resource for training and development within the Nigeria Police Force.

“It will contribute to the overall professionalism and effectiveness of our law enforcement operations,” he said.

He said the facility was a major milestone in the Nigeria Police pursuit of excellence in training, as it was specifically designed to provide officers with the most sophisticated and practical training.

According to him, training at the centre will empowers them to refine their skills and respond to complex situations with confidence and precision.

He said the simulation centre was more than just a training facility, adding that it is a comprehensive, multi-functional hub equipped with the latest technology to ensure that officers were well-prepared to handle any situation.

“The Centre boasts the latest technology, including virtual reality simulators, interactive targets, and advanced firearms training systems.

“These resources enable our officers to practice shooting techniques, tactical manoeuvres and decision- making skills safely.

“Training at this Centre will undoubtedly contribute to a reduction in shooting-related incidents involving officers and an increase in the overall effectiveness of our law enforcement operations,” he said.
