The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has tasked newly badged Defence Headquarters Special Forces troops to go after the terrorists, stay humble and hungry for success.
This is contained in a statement by the Acting Director of Defence Information Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Musa gave the charge at the Badging of the Batch 7 Graduands of the Special Forces Operation on Tuesday at the Headquarters National Mission Force in Bida, Niger.
He charged the graduants to stay true to values and principles that had been bestowed on them by the efficient training ground.
According to him, the training has prepared them for the challenges ahead as their character will ultimately define their successes.
He further urged them not to take sides in the line of duty but to always maintain neutrality.
Musa said the resilience showcased by graduants was an indication of professionalism imbided by the trainers.
He lauded the transformation of the trainess into warriors.
“As you move forward, I want you all to remember that your skills are not about combat but also about passion, empathy and understanding towards the people you are meant to protect,” he said.
The CDS conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s appreciation to troops for their commitment to duty and expressed happiness with their performance at the recently concluded Warriors Competition in Jordan.
Earlier, the Commander, DHQ Special Forces Brigade, Brig.-Gen. IM Falana, said the aim of the training was to equip troops with special fighting skills and tactics that are peculiar.
Falana thanked the CDS for his unwavering commitment to the training and welfare of the services, which he said made it possible to record all the successes achieved so far.
He added that the event was a testimony to Gen. Musa’s leadership resolve to bequeath a well trained and professional armed forces.
According to him, the 13 weeks extensive training which commenced in January, had 124 participants, comprising nine officers and 136 soldiers.
The CDS was accompanied by senior military officers from the Defence Headquarters, Abuja to the event.
