Zamfara NSCDC trains Private Guards to boost security

The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has trained 50 personnel of the Private Guards selected from various licensed companies.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the training at the State Command, Commandant Sani Mustapha said the aim of the training is to upgrade the personnel in the area of information sharing and intelligence gathering.

According to the Commandant, the fruitful outcome of the training is highly needed especially as Zamfara State has been bedeviled by security challenges which in whatever form, the conventional security agencies need to be supported.

He further disclosed that, the training is all about learning how best credible information while ongoing or about to happen could be communicated to security agencies for the most needed measures to be taken promptly.

Commandant Mustapha added that, the training becomes necessary as high profile criminality has reached the city of Gusau the state capital as gunmen invaded Kofar Jange area where they killed and kidnapped.

“The PGC will be trained on how they could detect any nasty plan by criminals that is aimed at unleashing terror on innocent communities not only in the state capital but across other 13 local government areas in the state.

“The professional conducts of PGC could help in the reduction of insecurity in the state, hence the Corps is poised to turn out well disciplined and security professionals amongst the PGC.

“I therefore advised the general public to always patronize the Private Guard Companies for their private security services and to avoid quacks that could ruin the security of lives and properties.

“The services offered by the PGCs are constitutionally recognized, therefore, there is safety at anywhere they operate, they work with rules of engagement and can easily be located when the need arises.

“Let me use this medium to warmly warn good people of Zamfara State to stop employing local guards as they could be manipulated by terrorists to serve as their informants used to launch attacks on innocent citizens, and they could not be traced as they might be foreigners’, the Commandant has warned.
