ECOWAS foreign ministers under the aegis of ECOWAS Council of Ministers on Friday pledged to intensify integration and anti-terrorism efforts towards achieving prosperity, peace and security in the subregion.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Council, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, made the pledge at the end of a two-day 92nd Session of the Council, in Abuja.

“As we depart today, let us bear in mind that the tasks ahead are formidable.

“I have no doubt that with our collective determination, we will continue to make strides towards a more integrated, prosperous, and peaceful West Africa,” Tuggar said.

He lauded the participants for their contributions, which he said had resulted in the success being recorded since the session started from July 4 to 5, 2024.

According to him, the outcome of the meeting will form the basis for a more far reaching decision by the ECOWAS Authority of  Heads of State and Government during their next summit.

“As this session draws to a close, I wish to express my profound appreciation for your active participation and valuable contributions over the past two days.

“Your dedication to our shared vision and the ideals of regional cooperation is a constant inspiration reflecting on our agenda.

“We have collectively addressed several pressing regional issues, touching upon important matters that have direct bearing on the welfare of our citizens and the prosperity of our nations,” he said.

Tuggar emphasised that the depth of analysis and partnership displayed during the session was truly exemplary.

“Resolutions adopted here will form the bedrock of discussions at the upcoming 65th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

“Our diligent work over these past two days will help our leaders to make informed decisions that will advance the interests of our community,” Tuggar added.
