Two Dead As Police Rescue 10 Victims From Bandits During Gun Battle In Katsina

Two victims have died from gunshot wounds sustained during a rescue operation by the Katsina State Police Command.

On 24th December 2024, at about 2030 hrs, suspected bandits attacked a commercial vehicle at Kwanar Makera along the Katsina to Magama Jibia road in Jibia LGA, Katsina State.

Armed with dangerous weapons, they attempted to kidnap the 10 occupants while firing sporadically.

The police spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, said: “Upon receipt of the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Jibia, swiftly led a team of operatives to the scene, engaging the bandits in a gun duel, successfully foiled the kidnap attempt and rescued all the 10 victims.”

Four victims sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospital, but two later succumbed to their injuries. 

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, as investigations continue. 

“The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers’ gallantry and urged the public to report criminal activities to the nearest police station.
