Take charge of your domain as chief security officers— NSCDC admonishes ALGON

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has admonished Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) to take charge as chief security officers and free their domain from criminalities.

Mr Oluyemi Ibiloye, state NSCDC Commandant, made this known on Wednesday in Akure during a courtesy visit by the new democratically-elected chairmen of ALGON in Ondo State.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the 18 new Local Government chairmen were democratically-elected on Jan.18, 2025.

Ibiloye, who appreciated the visit, said that the success of their election was a result of the synergy among security agencies in the state.

The commandant said that there was need for all the chairmen to play important roles, especially in the area of security in their domain.

“Ondo is ajudged as one of the relatively peaceful states in Nigeria. We need to put up more measures to ensure we maintain this status and improve on it.

“Security personnel are human, and the difference is probably the training and equipment at our disposal. We need information from all.

“If there are issues we need to tackle jointly or areas of intervention, we need to work together for impactful responses.

“Meanwhile, the security heads had a fruitful discussion with the governor, and some of our strategic suggestions would be implemented for the betterment of the state.

” So, the Local Government Area chairmen should take charge of their domain as chief security officers,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of ALGON, Mr  Gbenga Fasua, Chairman, Akure South Local Government, said that their visitation was to familiarise themselves with the command before they settled for work.

‘ALGON Ondo State appreciates and commends your institution for keeping the state safe during the two just concluded elections; governorship and LG elections.

“The effort of your men and officers for their gallantry and professionalism before, during, and after the local government elections is commendable,” he said.

Local Government chairmen present include Mr C.K Ojo (Ose LGA); Mr Oripenaye Maurice (Ilaje LGA); Mr Molos C.E (Ese Odo LGA); Mr Smart Adeuyi (Idanre LGA).

Others are Mr Ayotunde Akinfolarin (Ondo West LGA); and Mr Mohammed Olawale (Akoko NE LGA).
