Russia to develop military response to U.S. missile deployment

Russia would develop a military response to the threat in connection with the U.S. Pentagon’s plans to deploy long-range missiles in Germany, local media reported on Thursday.

The report cited Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying.

The Pentagon said on Wednesday that in 2026, the United States will begin to deploy long-range strike systems in Germany to demonstrate its commitment to NATO and Europe.

Such decisions are aimed at harming Russia’s security, TASS news agency quoted Ryabkov as saying.

It was “just a link in an escalating course, one of the elements of intimidation,’’ and the main component of the policies of NATO and the U.S. towards Russia, Ryabkov added.

Russia’s response would be determined in a calm, professional manner, Ryabkov said.

“The military has already begun working on the matter.’’
