Police vow to flush out criminals from Nasarawa State

The Police Command in Nasarawa State has vowed to flush out kidnappers and other criminals operating in Deddere community, Obi Local Government Area and other parts of the state.

Mr Umar Nadada, the Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, made the commitment during a courtesy visit by the Deddere Youth Organisation on Monday in Lafia.

He explained that the police and other security agencies were working assiduously towards addressing the challenges and ensure that the entire state was secure.

Nadada said that the state government had promised to further assist the police and sister security agencies with more logistics to enable them tackle the menace.

He noted that security required collective responsibility of citizens and all stakeholders to partner with police in that regard.

“Members of the public must support us with valuable information about criminals and their hideouts within the communities to enable us to tackle them, thereby making the communities safe.

“We are always ready to respond whenever the public gives us information about criminals, because that is our mandate.

“When you see something, say something, to enable us to do something in order to secure the state,” he said.

On the security concerns raised by the organisation, the CP assured them that immediate actions would be taken to increase the presence of their personnel in the area.

He also promised to investigate alleged claim that some suspects, arrested by the vigilante, were released few days after without prosecution.

Earlier, Sani Yakubu, Chairman, Deddere Youth Organisation decried the incessant kidnapping and armed robbery in the area.

He explained that so many people from the area had relocated to Lafia and other safer locations for fear of becoming victims of kidnapping and other criminal attacks.

According to him, four suspects that were arrested by the vigilante were released few days later and this is not the first time the same suspects have been arrested.

He therefore, appealed that the police post in the area be made a divisional headquarters.
