As part of activities marking National Police Day, the Police Command in Kaduna State has engaged in community sanitation and free medical services across the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two-day event began with sanitation and community engagement at Ahmadu Bello Way, Central Market, Kawo Bus Stop, and Command Junction.
On April 4-5, free medical services will be offered to residents at the Police Officers’ Mess, opposite the Police College, Kaduna.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, on Thursday led officers in a sanitation exercise, which will be followed by free medical services for residents the next day.
Addressing the public, the CP reaffirmed the command’s commitment to strengthening community relations by prioritising public safety, health, and well-being.
According to him, initiatives like these demonstrate the police force’s role beyond law enforcement, highlighting its dedication to community development.
Muhammad said National Police Day aligns with the mission of President Bola Tinubu and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, following the approval of April 7 for the celebration.
“That is why the command, under my leadership, is carrying out community service initiatives aimed at promoting public health and environmental hygiene,” he stated.
He listed some medical services to be offered, including blood pressure checks, HIV and hepatitis screenings, health education, and other social welfare services.
The CP also commended the President for approving April 7 as National Police Day.
NAN reports that residents expressed appreciation for the outreach, emphasising its positive impact on public health and trust between the police and the community.
