Police begin investigation into petrol attendant’s abduction in Iseyin

The Oyo State Command of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Thursday said it has began investigation into the abduction of a petrol attendant by gunmen in Iseyin.

The command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO),  CSP Adewale Osifeso, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan that Tuesday’s incident needed urgent investigation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that gunmen had invaded a petrol station at a sawmill along Iseyin-Saki Road and abducted the petrol attendant, while killing one other person.

Osifeso disclosed that updates would be made available to members of the public at the completion of investigation.

“Investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided accordingly,” Osifeso said.

NAN reports that unconfirmed news had it that the gunmen had planned to kidnap the owner of the petroleum station who was however not around.

“So, the gunmen abducted the attendant instead.

“In the process, the gunmen also shot dead one Ayanladun who was at the petrol station to charge his phone just before the kidnappers arrived.

“The deceased was attending a church service near the scene of the incident but had earlier plugged his phone at the petroleum station,” a source who asked for anonymity told NAN.

NAN reports that the gunmen also shot a security man, who is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Iseyin.
