Police arrest 3 suspected gunrunners in Delta

The Police Command in Delta says it has detained a couple and one other suspect over alleged gunrunning in the state.

SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Warri.

Edafe said that the suspects were apprehended on Sunday in Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area of the state.

The police spokesman added that the suspects were nabbed by the operatives of the CP – Special Assignment Team (CP – SAT) following credible information.

“The CP-SAT, acting on credible information, carried out a sting operation at the residence of the couple at Okpe local government.

“Upon their arrest, a fabricated Beretta pistol with single live ammunition planned to be delivered to a client in Sapele was recovered.

“The wife admitted being the dispatcher and confessed to having delivered several arms as directed by her husband to various clients within Warri and Sapele.

“Further investigation led to the arrest of another suspect who is a member of their gang,” he said.

Edafe said that effort was on top gear to arrest other members of the syndicate and recover more arms traded by the suspects.
