The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), has restated its commitment to the fight against cultism and other forms of criminality in Imo schools.
The PCRC Chairman in Imo, Mr Chima Chukwunyere, said this when its executive committee members visited the committee’s patron, Mr Charles Amadi, in Owerri, on Wednesday.
Chukwunyere said that the PCRC in Imo has, thus far, taken its anti-cultism campaign to 67 schools and some communities.
He added that the committee, with its ambulance services, has helped many accident victims and pregnant women using a private vehicle which he said, has parked up.
“PCRC is the closest ally of the Police, and it is our duty to ensure that there is a cordial relationship between Imo people and the Police.
“In 2016, we received the gold star award from the national as the best in the country because we operate rigidly in line with the vision.
“We are the only state involved in school campaign against crime, criminality and cultism, and we have covered 67 schools including Ngwa High School in Abia State and some communities, with my private car, which is now in a mess,’’ he said.
Chukwunyere thanked Amadi for his time and money in the construction of the male PCRC Transit camp for Policemen on transfer and special duties.
He appealed to Amadi to use his good relationship with Gov. Hope Uzodinma to urge him to redeem his earlier promise of a bus to the Committee to enable it achieve the goals of the school campaign.
In a response, Amadi pledged his unalloyed support to the PCRC and promised to address their concerns in due course.
