One Chance Robbery: Police boost personnel, equipment in Abuja

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has announced the deployment of additional personnel and equipment against “once chance robbery” in Abuja and environs.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Adeh said the deployment was to boost and strengthen patrols, stop-and-search operations and surveillance across the FCT.

According to her, the idea is to combat the rising incidences of ‘one chance’ robbery and car theft in the territory.

She said vehicles without registration number as well as those with only one plate number and others using defaced plates would be impounded during the operation.

She added that regulations regarding covered number plates and tinted glasses would also be enforced.

“While these operations may cause some inconvenience, they reflect our commitment to the safety of all residents in FCT.

“The idea is to deter criminal activities targeted at motorists and passengers,” she said.

Adeh said several stolen vehicles had been recovered, and robbers apprehended since the commencement of the deployment.

While commending the public for their patience and cooperation since the commencement of the operation, she urged vehicle owners to comply with the regulations.

The police spokesperson enjoined residents to report suspicious activities and cooperate with the police during the operation.

She said the command could be reached on 08032003913 or 08028940883 for enquiries and emergencies.
