OIL PRODUCTION MUST IMPROVE – ARMY CHIEF ORDERS TROOPS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has charged troops of 6 Division Nigerian Army to reinvigorate anti oil theft operations to ensure improvement in the nation’s oil production.

The COAS gave the charge while addressing troops of 6 Division during a working visit to Port Harcourt on Tuesday, 24 December 2024.

Describing the current crude oil output as unacceptable, the COAS maintained that if the nation’s economy must improve, the troops must redouble their efforts in creating an enabling environment for crude oil production to thrive. He emphasized the need for them to eschew all forms of inducement and criminality. He warned that anyone caught conniving with criminal elements and economic saboteurs will be decisively dealt with in accordance with extant laws.

He urged the troops to bring professionalism to bear in discharging their duties and assured them of his commitment to improve their general wellbeing and that of their families and provide the requisite enablers to enhance their duties and operational effectiveness.

The COAS reminded the troops that they are critical stakeholders in the government’s drive to stabilize the economy for the good of all Nigerians, adding that they must, therefore, serve with utmost commitment and integrity.
