Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command has paraded four (4) vandals who were caught at an ungodly hour vandalising streetlight poles in different parts of Abuja.
The arrests was made possible by the Command’s covert operatives in conjunction with the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Tactical team on routine night patrol in various location of the city.
The suspects are Japhet Adams, Male, 19 years of age, from Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State and his accomplice Friday Ojo, Male, 51 years old is from Ojo LGA, Lagos State.
Both suspects were picked up by the Officers of the Command around Eden Garden in Utako axis of Abuja, vandalizing medium Traffic light poles at 1:00 am.
The other suspects are Ibrahim Aliyu, Male, 19 years of age, from Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State and Hassan Abdullahi, Male, 23 years of age, from Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The duo were caught in the act of vandalizing gigantic street light poles and their accessories along Moshood Abiola Stadium, National Hospital junction at 2:00am.
Parading the suspects at the Command headquarters in Abuja, the Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu described the arrest as the latest in a series of successful operations against vandals.
Odumosu said, “This marks another remarkable milestone in the Command’s ongoing efforts to combat vandalism in the Federal Capital Territory.”
He assured the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and all residents of the capital city that the Command will not rest on its oars until vandals are completely flushed out of the FCT.
“We will continue to arrest these unrelenting vandals who persist in perpetrating evil against our national assets for their selfish gains.
“My men are on 24 hours surveillance and patrol of the metropolise and the surrounding suburbs of the FCT protecting our National Assets and Infrastructure.
“We will not renege in our efforts until this enemies of the state are flushed out completely,” he disclosed.
He warned vandals to keep off National Assets and Infrastructure or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
Dr. Odumosu said that the FCT Command was determined to continue the onslaught against vandals in the FCT adding that he was not going back on his earlier pronouncement that vandals in the FCT either repent, relocate or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
He, however, solicited the co-operation of the residents of the FCT in the area of credible intelligence and information that will assist the corps in serving them better and assured them of the corps’ utmost confidentiality.
