The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command has deployed 1,500 personnel across the state to ensure a smooth and secure Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Samuel Opebiyi, stated this in a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan.
According to Opebiyi, NSCDC State Commandant, Augustine Padonu, has instructed all Area Commands and Divisions to implement a comprehensive security plan.
He noted that the directive aims to safeguard Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, including prayer grounds, motor parks, markets, busy areas, recreation centres, and other public places.
“This initiative seeks to prevent crime and maintain public order during the festivities,” he said.
In addition to general deployment, specialised units have been mobilised to enhance emergency response capabilities.
The Disaster Management Unit, Counter-Terrorist Unit, Agro-Rangers, and Anti-Vandalism Unit have been tasked with addressing potential security threats.
Opebiyi stated that NSCDC personnel would collaborate with other security agencies to ensure a unified and effective security response.
This will ensure that all aspects of public safety and crime prevention are fully covered during the celebrations.
He reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to providing a secure environment for residents and visitors before, during, and after the festive period.
However, he urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and remain vigilant
