Nigerian Army Commissions AHOOAS Project, Honors WIA Soldiers in Abuja

On 18 December 2024, the Nigerian Army commissioned the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS) project in Idu, Abuja.

The project, comprising 100 blocks of 4 flats, will house 400 families, fulfilling the promise made by the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja CFR, to reserve 5% of the project for soldiers wounded in action (WIA).

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, who was the Special Guest of Honour, commended the initiative as a reflection of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel.

The Chief of Army Staff expressed pride in fulfilling the vision of his late predecessor, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja CFR, while reiterating his continued commitment to the welfare of troops.

Key moments of the event included the symbolic presentation of keys to WIA soldiers, a guided tour of the project, cultural performances, and a group photograph honoring their sacrifices and resilience.
