Matawalle lauds Gov Abiodun for allocating land to Navy

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr  Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has commended Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for the recent donation of 100,000 hectares of land to the Nigerian Navy.

This is contained a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, by Mr Henshaw Ogubike, Director, Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Defence.

The minister expressed his appreciation for Governor Abiodun’s unwavering support for the Nigerian Armed Forces.

He noted the donation reflects a strong commitment to the country’s security and development.

Matawalle while expressing appreciation to Gov. Adedapo Abiodun for the donation noted the governor’s unwavering support to the Nigerian Armed Forces,

“It is a crucial step towards fortifying national security infrastructure in the South-West region.

“’The land, situated within the Olokola Free Trade Zone in Ogun along the Bight of Benin, will serve as a Forward Operating Base (FOB) for the Navy, significantly enhancing its operational capabilities in the region,” he said.

The minister therefore called on other State Governments across the country to emulate the laudable example set by the Ogun governmenttat.

He also urged them to collaborate with and support the Armed Forces in the ongoing effort to combat insecurity, thereby ensuring that Nigeria remains a safe and secure nation for all its citizens.

He further reteirated the Federal Government’s dedication to working with state governments and other stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of the Armed Forces in maintaining peace and security across the country.
