Hunger protest: NSCDC deploys 3,400 personnel to ensure peace in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Command in Kano State has deployed 3,400 personnel to provide security cover for the participants of the planned protests in the state.

The State Commandant of the corps, Mohammad Falala, told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in a telephone interview on Saturday that the security personnel would ensure security before, during and after the protests in various parts of the state.

Falala said the command had put in place measures to enable the residents to participate in the protest peacefully, without threats to lives and property.

Accordingly to him, the command is working with other security agencies to ensure a crisis-free protest in and outside the metropolis.

”An operational order has been issued to Area Commanders and Divisional  Officers across the 44 LGAs to provide security at public buildings such as: markets, banks, Churches, Mosques, recreation centres, and motor parks,” he said.

Falala assured law-abiding residents of 100 per cent safety, stating that sufficient security personnel had been deployed to cover protesters.

The commandant, however, warned that any acts capable of causing confusion during the protest would not be tolerated, and that those disobeying orders would be arrested and prosecuted.
