Iko Udama Club, a socio-cultural group, has described the death of Retired Adm Ibrahim Ogohi, former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), as a great loss to Nigeria.
Chairman, Publicity and Mobilisation of Iko Udama, Mr Julius Abalaka, said this in a condolence message on Friday in Abuja.
Abalaka said late Ogohi was a patriotic Nigerian, who contributed immensely to national development.
He further said that the deceased was deeply committed to protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria, when he served in the military, and after his retirement.
“The death of Adm. Ibrahim Ogohi is a great loss not only to the people of Kogi, but Nigerians at large.
“He was one of our finest naval officers, who dedicated his life to the service of the nation.
“His dedication to duty and quest to contribute to the growth of the nation won him several awards both nationally and internationally, a feat that will not be forgotten in a hurry.
“As an elder statesman, late Ogohi shared his wealth of experience on ways of tackling insecurity in Nigeria.
“We will miss him greatly,” he said.
Abalaka prayed to God to grant the late CDS’ soul eternal rest; and also his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
