FRSC deploys personnel, equipment for Edo gubernatorial election

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed personnel and equipment to ensure a smooth conduct of the Edo State gubernatorial elections, scheduled for 21 September.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, made this announcement in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, on Friday in Abuja.

Mohammed stated that the deployment was part of efforts to ensure the election’s seamless conduct, as scheduled by the electoral authorities.

He directed FRSC operatives to collaborate with other security agencies to enforce compliance with vehicular movement restrictions.

He also mandated the personnel to clear road obstructions, conduct rescue operations in emergency situations and maintain orderliness at polling stations.

“Adequate mobilisation has been made for operational tools, including deployment of vehicles, tow trucks, and ambulances to strengthen enforcement of restrictions throughout the election process,” Mohammed said.

The FRSC boss urged deployed personnel to exhibit professionalism, avoiding any actions that could infringe upon electorate’ rights.

He wished the electorate a peaceful, free, and fair election.
