Federal lawmaker, Musa, condemns Edo killings

Sen. Sani Musa (APC-Niger) has condemned the recent killing of 16 travellers in Uromi, Edo.

Musa, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, in a statement issued  in Kano on Saturday described the killing as barbaric and unfortunate.

“I strongly condemn the recent killing of 16 travellers in Uromi, in Edo State.

” The incident is unfortunate and should not have happened,” he said.

He described Nigeria as diverse country with people of different religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds who should live peacefully and be each other’s brothers’ keepers.

The federal lawmaker urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.

He prayed to Allah to grant the soul of the deceased travellers eternal rest and give their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“I also pray that such incident will never happen again in any part of the country so that Nigerians will continue to live peacefully in any part of the country they find themselves,” he said.

The victims, predominantly hunters, were allegedly ambushed by members of a vigilance group while travelling from Rivers to Kano to celebrate Sallah with their families.
