As part of field training exercise nicknamed Ex NKWADO GARAZAMA targeted at enhancing the capacity of students of Advance Public Relations Officres Course in the aspect of Crisis Communication, Narratives and Messaging, the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) in collaboration with African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) Nigeria Chapter have commenced 3 Day Capacity Building Conference with the Student Officers on Wednesday 13 November 2024 at the Faculty of Law Auditorium, Baze University Abuja.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the President ACCE, Nigeria Chapter Prof Abdullahi Saleh Bashir stated that African Council for Communication Education is the biggest association and forum for media scholars, professionals, educators in journalism, cultural studies and associated disciplines in Nigeria and It has branches in many countries on the continent of Africa. He further disclosed that the headquarters is in Nairobi, Kenya. He added that every year, the body brings together academics, researchers, and media practitioners from the 36 States and FCT to discuss issues of communication education and training, information technology, crisis communication, Culture, research, fact check and fake news.
Prof Abdullahi thanked NASPRI for participating in the conference stressing that the packages loaded in the conference would enhance the practical knowledge and experience of the student officers.
Speaking during his goodwill message, the Commandant NASPRI Lt Col Adamu Ngulde thanked ACCE for collaborating with NASPRI in training and building the capacity of students of Advance Public Relations Course Officers in the Crisis Communication, Fact Check, Narratives and Messaging. He disclosed that the school under his watch would continue to partner with critical stakeholders in providing opportunities for students to enhance their practical knowledge and experiences.
The conference was well attended by renowned communication scholars within Nigeria, such as Prof Chinyere Stella Okunna, the first female professor of Mass communication in Nigeria. Prof Cosmos Eze, Prof Danjuma Gambo, Prof Abiodun Adeniyi, Prof Ladi Adamu, Prof Umar Pate, Prof Asemah Ezekiel, Prof Chris Ogbondah, Prof Eserinune McCarty MOJAYE, among numerous other Professors and Dictors in the field Communication and Public Relations.
