CP orders massive raids on criminal hideouts in FCT

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ajao Adewale, has directed Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the territory to carry out extensive raids on identified criminal hideouts.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Adeh explained that the order was a strategic move aimed at dislodging criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of FCT residents.

She added that the operation would be intelligence-driven and involve stop-and-search operations and targeted patrols to combat robbery, kidnapping, drug peddling, and other forms of violent crime.

The FCT police spokesperson assured that the police would take a proactive approach to stay ahead of criminal threats and reinforce public confidence in law enforcement.

Adeh also urged FCT residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and cooperative with police operatives during official duties.

She emphasised the importance of courteous and respectful interactions with law enforcement officers, explaining that the operations were designed solely to enhance public safety and security.

Adeh called on parents and guardians to be more attentive and deliberate about the whereabouts and conduct of their children and wards.

Proper guidance and supervision, she noted, were crucial in preventing youths from being drawn into criminal activities or harmful associations.

She also urged community leaders, religious figures, and local stakeholders to support the ongoing policing efforts by reporting suspicious activities or individuals.

According to her, collective responsibility and public cooperation are vital for building a safer society.

Adeh reiterated the commitment of the command to its mandate of protecting lives and property within the FCT and assured the public that the command would continue to adopt effective strategies to stay ahead of criminal elements
