Mr Miller Dantawaye, the Commissioner of Police in Kogi, on Tuesday, called for stronger collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to ensure road safety for both motorists and commuters in the state.
Dantawaye made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the FRSC Kogi Sector Commander, Mr Samuel Oyedeji, in Lokoja.
The CP explained that the visit was also aimed at strengthening cooperation on enforcing the mandatory third-party insurance for all vehicles in the state.
“This visit is aimed at fostering synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and the FRSC to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with the insurance policy.
“I believe that an effective partnership between our agencies is crucial in ensuring that road users comply with the third-party insurance policy.
“Also, there’s a need for awareness and enforcement to ensure accident victims receive the necessary compensation through the insurance scheme,” he added.
The Commissioner also emphasised the importance of unity among law enforcement agencies in achieving common goals, reiterating his commitment to working closely with the FRSC and other security agencies.
In response, Oyedeji welcomed the CP and expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration between the two agencies.
He affirmed the corps’ commitment to enforcing the third-party insurance policy and ensuring that road safety measures are effectively implemented.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the visit marks a significant step in strengthening inter-agency collaboration in the state.
It is expected to improve road safety management and enhance the implementation of government policies aimed at protecting motorists and accident victims.
