Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe on Thursday supported each family of fallen heroes of the 27 Task Force Bridge Buni-Gari who died in an encounter with ininsurgents with N2 million.
Buni announced the donation during his visit to the Bridge’s Headquarters at Buni Gari to commiserate with the military formation over the recent attack by insurgents.
The governor announced the donation of N2 million to each family of the fallen soldiers and N1 million to each of the injured personnel.
Buni also pledged educational support to the children of the deceased officers.
He also announced a donation of N50 million to be shared among troops of the Brigade, along with food items, mattresses, blankets and other essential supplies from the state government.
The governor described the resurgence of insurgency and the attack on the formation as unfortunate and regrettable.
He sympathised with the Nigerian Army and the families of personnel who paid the supreme price in the line of duties.
“The gallant officers did not die in vain. They died gallantly defending their fatherland,” Buni said.
He reassured the Brigade of the unwavering support of the state government and its people to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
“We will continue to complement your efforts to improve security around your formations,” the governor said.
Buni directed the reinforcement of security around the Brigade to forestall further attacks.
The Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Usman Ahmed, who conducted the governor round the formation, commended Buni for his concern and consistent support to troops.
