The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, says it will continue to priotise the protection of National Critical Assets in the territory.
The FCT Commandant of the corps, Dr Olusola Odumosu, gave the assurance at a meeting with his management staff on Wednesday in Abuja to appraise the performance of the corps during the Eid-El Fitr celebration.
This is contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Monica Ojobi.
Odumosu said that the command’s personnel who have been trained on specialised duties like covert operations were dotted all over the city on surveillance.
He warned criminally minded people to stay clear of government facilities or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
“We will not rest on our oars until the rotten eggs are uprooted out of the city.
“I want to remind residents of the FCT that security is everybody’s business and as such security should not be left in the hands of security agencies alone.
”When you see something, please report immediately to any Security outfit close to you,” he advised.
The FCT NSCDC commandant commended the personnel of the command for participating actively in ensuring a hitch free Eid-el-Fitri celebration in the territory.
He said that the Eid Mubarak celebration in the FCT was adjudged as one of the most peaceful in recent times.
He expressed satisfaction with the conduct and performance of officers and men who were massively deployed to ensure the security of the city, as well as lives and property of the residents.
“I am so pleased that there were no issues of unrest or attack on any individuals, group of individuals or vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.
“We ensured adequate coverage of all nooks and crannies of the city, including all the area councils, and by so doing, we have once again proven our mettle that we can be trusted and relied on,” he said.
Odumosu charged the personnel to continue with the doggedness they displayed during the sallah celebration in order to maintain the needed peace in the FCT beyond the celebration period.
He noted that the peace, calm and tranquility the people of the city were enjoying now were not unconnected with the synergy and proactive nature of security agencies across board.
He added that the collaboration of security agencies with the sole purpose of national security with particular reference to the territory was yielding unprecedented results
“I am proud to be identified with this tremendous results,” he said
