The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday condemned recent attacks by the Janjaweed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which it said were aimed at worsening the suffering of civilians.
The ministry accused the RSF of targeting key infrastructure, including power stations in states such as Sinnar, Sinja, and Dongla.
In a statement issued in Abuja by the Office of the Spokesperson and Media Directorate, the ministry called on the international community to take strong action against the RSF to prevent further criminal acts.
The statement explained that after suffering humiliating losses against the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and supporting forces, the RSF had resorted to acts of terrorism.
It added the RSF targeted power stations, water facilities, hospitals, remote villages, Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, and civilian convoys.
“The RSF has carried out multiple drone strikes on key power infrastructure, including the Merowe power station and substations in Al-Shawak, Sinnar, Sennjah, Atbara, and Dongola.
“These attacks have disrupted essential services such as electricity, water, hospitals, bakeries, and food production, deepening the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.”
The ministry accused the RSF of pursuing a genocidal strategy with support from regional sponsors.
It also noted that the militia had escalated attacks on villages in Gezira State and IDP camps in North Darfur, including Abu Shok and Zamzam.
“Further, the RSF had attacked civilian infrastructure in El Fasher, defying calls for accountability and threatening additional massacres in the city.
“The militia’s destruction of vital facilities, including the Khartoum Refinery in Jele, was also condemned as part of a systematic campaign to destroy Sudan’s infrastructure.”
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that these actions represented clear violations of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit attacks on vital civilian infrastructure.
The government condemned the actions of the RSF and called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take immediate and decisive measures to hold the militia accountable and prevent further attacks
