Shun partisanship, join forces to tackle insecurity – Group urges Plateau politicians

The Plateau Patriotic Front (PPF) has called on politicians on the Plateau to put aside partisanship and join hands with the government to address the current security threats facing the state.

A statement by the Chairman of PPF, Mr Mani Imman, on Thursday in Abuja hailed the response of Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau to the security threats in the state.

Imman urged the governor to press for the establishment of state police.

According to him, from inception, the governor’s intention of recovering and rebuilding an inherited state that was near total collapse was clear and deliberate.

”We are calling on politicians in the Plateau to put aside partisan colours to address the existential threats to their collective well-being.”

Imman noted that the governor had visited all the Security Chiefs in Abuja and NEMA with a view to building relationship that would protect his people while giving the true narrative on the security challenges in the state.

The PPF chairman said the governor had in the face of the recent happening in Bokkos, personally visited Ruwi and other communities to empathise with the people.

He said the governor had during the visit, declared that the happening in Bokkos and other parts of Plateau was ”genocide” where people were wiped out and their lands forcefully taken over by terrorists.

Imman said the governor had shown courage in leadership, stood by Plateau people and would continue to stand by them.

”Just last Sunday, the governor directed the deployment of relief materials to the victims of the attacks and attracted relief materials from NEMA while other faith-based organisations have also brought relief materials.

”The governor has secured modern security technology to ensure adequate security surveillance.

”Plateau people will not tolerate a situation where some individuals will be using the media to advance personal interest rather than collective interest,” he said
