Security one of our top priorities in Kogi – Gov. Ododo

…says perpetrators of CUSTECH Students’ Kidnap met their Waterloo

Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo has said that security remains one of the top priorities and responsibilities of his administration and therefore warns criminals to steer clear of the state or face choking.

Ododo who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen shortly after observing the Eid-El-Kabir Prayers at Okene Eid Praying Ground on Sunday said Kogi could and would never be a fertile ground for criminals to breed.

He said that the perpetrators of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, students kidnap came to test the waters and his administration’s capacity but met their Waterloo.

“They came to test the waters, to find out what our reactions would be and they have faced the consequences of their actions.

“Kogi State is not a fertile land for anybody to come and trade freely in terms of criminality.

“They have come and they have seen the results; if they will to come in their numbers and they will always go back in their zeros. I can tell you, they will never try it again,” Ododo stated.

The governor expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Heads of all security agencies, NSA; COAS; IGP; DG, DSS; NSCDC; the vigilantes and hunters for the synergy to protect the lives and property of the citizenry.

He explained that through the combined efforts of the Security Agencies, Vigilantes and Hunters, 29 students were rescued out of the 31 kidnapped from CUSTECH.

The governor lamented that two students were unfortunately killed by the hoodlums who invaded the institution at about 9pm on May 9, and abducted 31 students.

Ododo prayed for the repose of their souls and grant their families the fortitude to bear the loss.

“Security is one of our top priorities and responsibilities in Kogi, that is why we are doing everything possible with the support of Mr President to make sure that every soul in this state is protected and secured”, he declared.
