Robbery suspect apprehended after fatal crash

The Police Command in Nasarawa State has apprehended a robbery suspect after four of his accomplices died in a road crash while fleeing in a stolen vehicle.

SP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), disclosed this in a statement to journalists on Tuesday in Lafia.

According to the PPRO, the armed robbers stole a vehicle at gunpoint near Keffi Township Stadium but met their downfall while trying to escape.

“On March 25, 2025, at about 3:00 a.m., the command received a distress call reporting an armed robbery incident at a residential area behind the stadium in Keffi.

“Upon receiving the report, Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro-Mohammed immediately ordered operatives to track and pursue the fleeing suspects.

“The robbers escaped before police arrival, but officers strategically monitored their suspected escape route,” Nansel stated.

Nemesis caught up with them when the stolen vehicle crashed fatally at Bola Junction, along the Keffi-Abuja Expressway, during their attempt to evade arrest.

Following the accident, police operatives from Goshen City Division swiftly took the five occupants to Johepz Medical Centre, Kuchika, for urgent medical attention.

“Unfortunately, four were confirmed dead by a doctor, while the surviving suspect was arrested and is receiving treatment under police watch,” Nansel added.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the stolen Toyota Camry belonged to Udochi Emeka, a resident behind the stadium in Keffi.

Recovered items included assorted charms, two long knives, screwdrivers, several wristwatches, and twelve mobile phones of different brands, among others.

The police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station for swift action
