The Anambra Police Command has urged its personnel to be proactive in the discharge of their duties and respond swiftly to incidents.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, gave the charge in a statement issued in Awka and made available to newsmen on Saturday.
Ikenga stated that being proactive would lead to better result and improve public safety in the state.
“The Commissioner of Police (CP), Ikioye Orutugu, has engaged officers in charge of Surveillance, Patrol and Guard Units across the Divisional Headquarters within the command.
“He charged them to uphold the highest standard of professionalism, vigilance, and efficiency in ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order, and responding swiftly to security incidents.
“This engagement aligns with the command’s ongoing strategic initiatives to enhance policing operations and service delivery across the state,” he stated.
The police chief was quoted to have expressed the need for the officers to provide prompt and effective security interventions, emphasising their role in fostering public trust and confidence in the Police Force.
He added that to further strengthen the state’s security architecture, the command has also facilitated the deployment of recruits that recently passed out to various Police Divisions.
The command’s spokesman urged officers to remain courageous, disciplined, and professional in the discharge of their duties, assuring residents of improved policing services and a safer environment.
Accordding to Orutugu, the command remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property and will continue to implement proactive measures to address security challenges in the state.
