The newly appointed Commissioner of Police (CP) at the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Lagos, CP Ronke Okunade, has officially assumed duty.
This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the unit, DSP Ovie Ewhubare, in a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos.
Ewhubare noted that Okunade assumed office as the 31st CP, following the retirement of CP Godwin Omodeinde on April 4.
“PSFU is pleased to inform the public and stakeholders that CP Okunade formally took office on Wednesday,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Okunade hails from Ogbomosho North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the prestigious University of Ibadan.
Okunade joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
After training, she was posted to the police command in Ondo State for her one-year mandatory attachment.
Ewhubare highlighted that she has served in numerous roles during her distinguished career.
These include postings as Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
She has served as Commandant, Provost Department, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos.
Other roles include 2ic Kawo Division, DPO Apapa Division, and DPO Apata Division, among others.
She was also CSP Admin in Ondo, Acting Area Commander in Ebute Meta, and AC Admin, Lagos Command.
Okunade later served as DCP Admin at FCID Annex Lagos and at Cross River State Command.
Upon her promotion to CP, she headed General Investigation at FCID Annex, Lagos.
Okunade has attended various courses both locally and internationally.
Courses include Citizenship and Leadership Training and Police Mobile Force Combat Training.
Others are the Intermediate Command Course, Human Rights Course, and Strategic Leadership and Command Course.
She also completed the Comprehensive Criminology Management Course and the Community Policing Course.
She is a Fellow of the National Institute for Security Studies.
Okunade was warmly received by officers and staff of the Unit upon resumption.
In her remarks, she expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
She assured of her dedication to maintaining professionalism and adherence to existing laws.
The CP also urged the public and stakeholders to support and cooperate with the Unit.
