The Police Command in Kaduna State said its operatives have detained no fewer than 580 suspects for various offences from Dec. 31, 2024, to date.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Muhammad Rabiu announced this at a press briefing on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Rabiu said, “Since my assumption of duty in Kaduna State, my primary focus has been ensuring the safety and security of all the residents and their properties.
“From Dec. 31, 2024, to date, the Kaduna State command has recorded significant successes in our fight against crimes.
“Through intelligence-driven operations, synergies with sister security agencies and collaboration with communities to achieve safety and security, we have recorded tremendous successes. “
Rabiu said the suspects included suspected kidnappers, phone snatchers, armed robbers, car thieves, motorcycle snatchers, other suspects involved in rape cases and the receivers of stolen goods.
He said within the period under review, the command had rescued 30 kidnapped victims who had since been reunited with their families.
The CP also disclosed that the command had recovered stolen properties and illegal weapons.
They included 34 stolen motorcycles, 10 stolen motor vehicles, one submachine gun , four AK-47 rifles, two pistols and 28 rounds of live ammunition with five magazines.
Others included 52 rustled cows, four sledge hammers and 20 Blbags of l dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.
Rabiu said,”I want to assure the good people that the state is safe while we are working tirelessly to sustain and improve the security situation across every nook and cranny of the state.”
The CP warned criminal elements that Kaduna State was no longer a safe haven for them.
” We will continue to strengthen our intelligence network, improve response capabilities, and collaborate with sister security agencies to dismantle all criminal syndicates,” Rabiu vowed.
He urged the the residents of the state to remain law-abiding and support the police by providing timely and credible information.
“Security is a collective responsibility, and together, we can build a safer and more peaceful Kaduna State,” the CP said.
Rabiu appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, for the confidence he has in him and his team.
The CP also thanked Gov. Uba Sani for his continuous logistics and moral support to the command.
