Oyo Police embark on fitness walk to show readiness to fight crime

The Police Command in Oyo State on Saturday embarked on a fitness walk to show their strenght and readiness to tackle any criminal activity in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that officers and men of the Command converge at the Command’s Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan,  for the walk to the Total Roundabout at Jericho and back to the command.

The walkathon is part of the activities to commemorate the 2025 National Police Week celebration.

Addressing newsmen at the end of the exercise, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Johnson Adenola, said that health was wealth and fitness was part of being healthy.

Adenola said that as security personnel it was critical to be fit and alert at all times in order to tackle any emerging security in the state.

“As security agency we must be fit and alert at all times because fitness is part of visibility policing.

“Members of the society have seen us now that we are fit and ready to do our task whenever we are called upon,” he said.

The CP further said that sometimes security work could be physical and they have demonstrated with the walkathon activities that they are physically fit.

He said that the fitness exercise would be a continuous programme in order to ensure the  personnel are physically fit to perform the task of providing security for the people of Oyo State and Nigeria in general.
