Ondo CP harps on proactive policing to enhance security

The Police Command in Ondo State has commenced a two-day training for its personnel toward enhancing security in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Funmilayo Odunlami, on Thursday in Akure.

According to the statement, the training centres on proactive policing techniques through crime mapping and nipping, and tackling insecurity in the state.

“As the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has always emphasised that training and retraining are essential components of modern policing.

“I urge policemen present at this training to focus and learn as crime mapping and nipping are part of what is expected of a professional in the field of crime detection.

“As crime has become sophisticated, the police are expected to be skilled to tackle evolving security situations,” the statement quoted Mr Wilfred Afolabi, the state Commissioner of Police, as saying while addressing participants.

Afolabi said that the training was aimed at helping participants to develop their skills in the area of crime detection.
