NSCDC reiterates commitment to combat farmers-herders clashes in Ondo 

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has reitarated its commitment to combat farmers-herders clashes in the state.

Mr Oluyemi Ibiloye, NSCDC State Commandant, stated this on Friday in Akure during a courtesy visit by the leadership of Ondo State Farmers’ Congress.

Ibiloye, who appreciated the farmers’ executive for their visit, said that the command would not relent on its oars to ensure farmers-herders clashes were resolved amicably.

According to him, the strong partnership with the congress has enhanced security and created a more conducive environment for sustainable agricultural development.

“We acknowledge the pockets of conflicts between farmers and herders and the recent uprising in kidnapping in the state.

“But I am happy to tell you that all the security agencies in the state have intensified efforts to combat and arrest the situation.

“So, we are requesting for the support of the citizens in providing credible, intelligence information to assist and enable security agencies to protect lives and properties in the state.

” Meanwhile, technology will be deployed to man all the ungoverned spaces across the state, especially prone areas,” he said.

Earler, Mr Monilari Abayomi, the President of the congress, said the visit was aimed at fostering collaboration between the congress and NSCDC, to safeguard farmlands and protect farmers.

“We believe that a strong partnership with NSCDC will enhance security and create a more conducive environment for sustainable agricultural development.

” As a congress, we acknowledge the critical role of the NSCDC agro rangers in ensuring security, particularly in safeguarding farmlands and protecting farmers across the state,” he said.
