NSCDC partners scrap employers to protect national assets

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has partnered with Scrap and Waste Dealers Employers of Nigeria (SWDEN) in Lagos to protect national assets and critical infrastructure.

Mr Oluwaseun Abolurin, the Lagos State Command Public Relations Officer, NSCDC, disclosed this in a statement in Lagos on Friday.

Abolurin said the partnership became necessary because vandals of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure would no longer be tolerated or allowed to thrive in Lagos State.

He recalled that the activities of illegal operators, scavengers, thieves and vandals in the scrap and waste industry have become alarming across the country in recent times.

He said the meeting between the command and SWDEN is expected to help rid the state of such criminal activities.

“The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, received Alhaji Ibrahim Soja, Acting National President, and Comrade Adedotun Adewale, the Lagos State Chairman of SWDEN and other members of the Association on Thursday.

“The Lagos State Commandant was ably represented at the meeting by Deputy Commandant of Corps Agbetiloye Kolawole, Head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department.

“The meeting was necessary to chart a new course that will put a halt to the menace and trending ugly sabotage by these unscrupulous and unrepentant elements in our society,” he said.

Abolurin said the command and the association agreed to work hand in hand, identify challenges, provide possible and professional operational solutions, apprehend offenders, and clinically bring the menace to an end in the state.
