The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has partnered with the Indigenous Community Security Committee to boost protection for residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This is contained in a statement on Friday in Abuja by Monica Ojobi, spokesperson for the NSCDC FCT Command.
The partnership began after members of the committee paid a courtesy visit to Commandant Olusola Odumosu.
Odumosu stated that strong collaboration would improve security for Abuja residents, indigenes, and visitors within the FCT.
He commended the group’s dedication to peace and safety across the six area councils of the territory.
He described the committee’s efforts as a symbol of patriotism and sincerity, deserving of the corps’ support.
Odumosu also emphasised that businesses and social activities can only flourish in a secure, peaceful environment.
The commandant assured the group of the NSCDC’s readiness to collaborate and share intelligence effectively.
He highlighted the importance of confidentiality and timely action when processing shared intelligence.
“We’re committed to providing the level of security residents and infrastructure in the FCT deserve.
“Security is a collective duty, and we’re open to partnerships with all stakeholders to ensure it,” Odumosu added.
Earlier, the group’s President, Mr Yamzak Emmanuel, called for a stronger partnership to protect both residents and visitors.
He expressed concern over rising insecurity in certain areas and urged more active engagement by security agencies.
Emmanuel stressed the need for a prompt response mechanism and collective action by all stakeholders.
He added that the group would work with the corps and others by sharing credible intelligence to strengthen FCT
