The Nigeria Police Force(NPF) on Saturday passed out 1, 511 women police officers, retrained in tactical and operational policing for an enhanced protection of lives and property in Akwa Ibom
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Baba Azare, said that the officers passed out after a three months intensive programme at the 26 Police Mobile Squadron, Uyo.
Azare explained that the officers were drawn from all Divisions and Area commands of the Police Command in Akwa Ibom, describing the training as a strategic move to strengthen the security architecture of the state.
According to him, 1,511 women officers were retrained in order to enhance the protections of lives and property across the state and Nigeria at large.
“This training is not just a routine exercise; it is a deliberate and strategic initiative that underscores the evolution of the Nigeria Police Force.
“It is not just about physical endurance but also about mental agility, tactical precision, and strategic response to real-world security threats.
“These officers symbolise a new era of policing dynamic, proactive, and uncompromising in ensuring safety and security,’’ the CP said.
He said that the Force had been undergoing remarkable transformation under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun with focus on tactical, intelligence-driven, and result-oriented training,
Azare commended the I-G’s dedication to gender inclusion within the Force, emphasising that the newly trained officers would play a critical role in ensuring energy security across the country.
He, however, explained that during the intensive three-month training, the officers underwent rigorous exercises in advanced drill, debussing under fire, stripping and assembling of arms.
He listed other exercises undertaken by the women to include, weapon exercises, tactical formation, tactical combat casualty care (TCC3), cordon and defense operations amongst other training skills.
The commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to collaborate with sister security agencies in the state for an improved security for the state to remain peaceful.
He assured the people of the state that the Nigeria Police Force remained steadfast in its mission to ensure peace, security and safety across the state and the nation.
In his remarks, Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, urged the women police officers to remain committed and be professional in the discharge of their duties.
Eno, represented by DIG Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi (rtd), commended the police commissioner and his team for their commitment in keeping the state safe.
He reiterated the State Government’s commitment to support the police and other security agencies in their efforts to keep the state safe.
