New C’River CP, Omosanyin, assumes duty

The new Commissioner of Police for Cross River, Olusegun Omosanyin, on Friday assumed duty with a charge to the rank and file of the command to be diligent in their duties.

Omosanyin took over from Mr Augustine Grimah who was promoted to the office of an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and deployed to zone 10 Headquarters in Sokoto State.

The command spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, who announced this in a statement in Calabar on Friday said that Omosanyin also warned the personnel to  shun any act of corruption.

He called on the people to continue to support the Police and other sister security agencies in law enforcement and maintenance of public order.

He immediately dirceted the area commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and tactical commanders to ensure the safety and security of members of the public.

“The Police Command will not fold its hands and watch any person, or group of persons, or any unauthorized procession across the state, under whatever guise, to obstruct or cause breakdown of law and order.

“The Command has concluded strategic plans to clampdown on all disgruntled elements and haters of peace in our society.

“I therefore solicit corroborative partnership for effective and efficient service delivery in line with best practices,” he stated.

The new Commissioner hails from Ondo state but was raised in Oyo State.

He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force in 992, obtained his first degree (B. Ed. Honors) in Physical & Health education, from the University of Ibadan in 1987.

Omosanyin further attended the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he obtained a Master‘s degree in law enforcement and criminal justice in 2008.

He also bagged another Masters Degree in security and strategic studies from the National Defense Academy (NDA) Kaduna in 2024
