May Day: GOC reiterates army zero stance on misconduct

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Farouk Mijinyawa, has reaffirmed the Division’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, promising the continued enforcement of discipline across all ranks.

Mijinyawa made this known in a statement on Thursday issued by the Division’s spokesperson, Lt.-Col. Olabisi Ayeni, in Lagos.

Addressing students of the Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course 3/25 at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), the GOC urged them to remain focused and fully engage in their training for professional advancement.

“The importance of discipline, lifelong learning, and the practical application of acquired knowledge to build a strong military leadership structure cannot be overstated,” Mijinyawa said.

He noted that the division had recently recorded successes in combating illicit drug trafficking and other crimes, attributing the achievements to strategic collaboration with sister security agencies.

Mijinyawa, while highlighting the value of inter-agency cooperation, said the synergy between the Nigerian Army, the Police, and other security services was crucial in maintaining peace and ensuring national security.

He charged the NACOLM students to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and discipline both in their academic pursuits and subsequent field operations
