Lagos Government Arrests 54 ‘Poor Persons’ In Lekki, Victoria Island, Other Posh Areas, Fails To State Offences

The Lagos State government has arrested 54 individuals for allegedly violating established regulations in the Lekki and Victoria Island areas of the state.

The arrests were made at various hotspots, including Emma Abimbola Cole Street, Admiralty Way, Chevron Drive, Ligali Ayorinde, Alfred Rewane, and other prominent areas.

Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, made this known on his X handle on Monday.

However, he did not disclose the specific offences committed by the suspects.

The commissioner stated that the arrests were part of the government’s intensified efforts to enforce compliance with state regulations.

According to the commissioner, “Over the night, our enforcement team actively patrolled critical areas across Lekki and Victoria Island, including Emma Abimbola Cole Street, Admiralty Way, Chevron Drive, Ligali Ayorinde, Alfred Rewane, and other hotspots.

“During this operation, 54 individuals were arrested for violating established regulations.”

Wahab noted that the efforts are part of the unwavering commitment to maintaining order, promoting public safety, and ensuring compliance with the environmental and social standards that define Lagos State.

“We are determined to create a city where everyone can thrive within a safe and regulated environment. Let’s all play our part in building the Lagos of our dreams,” Wahab added.
