Lagos CP provides snacks, water to protesters

#Endbadgovernance# protesters on Tuesday  gathered in Lagos to seek improved economic situation.

The protesters marched from Ikeja Under Bridge to Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, where the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Olanrewaju Ishola, provided water and snacks for them.

The protest was organised by  civil society organisations.

The protesters carried placards with different inscriptions calling for  end to hardship in the country.

One of the coordinators, Mr Omoyele Sowore, the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress in the 2023 Elections, said that  the economic situation in the country needed urgent attention.

He urged the Federal Government to take more  steps to reduce the hardship.

“We are out to exercise our rights as Nigerians and draw attention to the hardship faced by citizens.

“We are appealing to the government to punish corrupt citizens and address the high cost of living in Nigeria,” he said.

Mr Hassan Soweto, another coordinator of the protest and member of the Youth Rights Campaign, urged the government to address hunger and hardship urgently.

Soweto urged that  the protesters should not be seen as bad, claiming that they were acting in the general interest of Nigerians.

The National Coordinator of the ‘Take It Back Movement’, Mr Juwon Sanyaolu, urged the government to do more to reduce the suffering of the masses.

“We want our president to reduce the hardship on citizens, ” he said.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Ishola, who was present at the park, provided security, water and snacks to the protesters.
