Katsina’s new CP seeks support

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Mr Bello Shehu, has sought support from all stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of residents in the state.

Shehu made the appeal on Friday through the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Aliyu, after assuming duty as the 26th Commissioner of Police in Katsina.

Aliyu stated that Shehu, who hails from Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State, joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on June 10, 1994.

He noted that Shehu holds a B.Sc in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and an M.Sc in Security and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.

The PPRO added that Shehu was posted as Commissioner following the elevation of the former CP, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

He noted that the new CP is a seasoned officer with vast experience, having served the force in various capacities.

“The CP seeks support from all and sundry in the state in the course of discharging his duties,” Aliyu stated.

He emphasised Shehu’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Katsina residents.

“Shehu pledged to work with all relevant stakeholders to reduce crime to the barest minimum,” the PPRO quoted him as saying.
