Katsina Police apprehend notorious fraudster circulating counterfeit foreign currencies

The Police Command in Katsina State, says it has apprehended a notorious fraudster who specialised in circulating counterfeit foreign currencies in the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Aliyu, said that the suspect was nabbed in the state following credible intelligence.

Aliyu said that on conducting a thorough search of the suspect’s residence, situated at Sokoto Rima quarters in the state capital, 345 pieces of counterfeit 100 USD denomination was recovered.

He said also recovered were five pieces of counterfeit 10,000 CFA, two bottles containing suspected criminal charms, one empty bottle of perfume, and one piece of white cloth.

The command’s spokesperson said that the suspect was currently in custody as the investigation progresses with a view to identifying and arresting his accomplices.

He said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Bello Shehu, has commended the efforts of the operatives, and the public for their continued support and cooperation in the ongoing fight against all forms of crime and criminality in the state.

He further reaffirmed the commitment of the command towards ensuring the safety and security of the residents of the state
