Headquaters 6 division sends off RSM in grand style

The Headquarters, 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA) has sent off the Division’s Regimental Sargeant Major (RSM), Army Warrant Officer (AWO) Dauda Waheed in a grand style as he retired after thirty five (35) years of active service . The ceremony took place on 26 June 2024, at the Division’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt Barracks.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, while appreciating AWO Waheed for his service to the NA said he was particularly pleased with his level of regimentation and discipline. He further said he is retiring at a time his services are needed most, adding that he is part of the success story of the Division. He stated that the RSM played an important role in mentoring the young ones in the job in order to retain and sustain regimentation and discipline in the NA.

Eulogising him further, the GOC stated that he was a dedicated, committed, disciplined, and result oriented RSM who discharged his responsibilities with little or no supervision and promptly. He believed that was what earned him the enviable rank of AWO in his career.

In a related vein, while giving his goodwill message, the Chief of Staff, Headquarters 6 Division, Brigadier General Babatunde Omopariola applauded the outgone RSM for the tireless and selfless services he has rendered. He added that the impressive sanitation and neatness he maintained in the barracks, especially at Division’s Quarter was quite commendable.

AWO Dauda Waheed expressed his great pleasure and gratitude working with the GOC, whom he described as a charismatic and persuasive leader, who places the need of his men above himself. He pledged his continued loyalty to the nation and the NA. He thanked God Almighty and all the officers and soldiers of the Division for the level of support and cooperation he has enjoyed. He prayed that Almighty God should guide them to retire successfully.
