The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Kogi, Mr Samuel Oyedeji, retires after 35 meritorious years of service.
Oyedeji, in his valedictory speech in Lokoja, thanked the Kogi Government and other security agencies for their overwhelming support to the corps during years of service in the state.
The retired sector commander lauded Gov. Ahmed Ododo and his team for making his tenure in Kogi a fruitful stay.
“It’s been a privilege and opportunity granted to me by God to serve for 35 years and retire in good health, peace and joy.
“My career has been rewarding, for I have learnt much from my colleagues, friends, family and fellow chiefs from sister agencies, which over time will help me succeed in life after service.
“Upon my enlistment on May 14, 1991, as an Assistant Route Commander (ARC), I rose through the ranks to the present level of being a corps commander,” he said.
He appreciated his family members, especially his wife and children, for their patience, cooperation and understanding during his movement from one state to the other during the service.
Oyedeji admonished personnel of the corps to keep giving their best as a way of honouring God and allegiance to the government in performing each task assigned to them.
“It is tough to change, but change is necessary to keep things in perspective and moving forward. It will only make our corps and nation better for future generations to come.
“Shun vices that can affect the corporate image of the corps; consider advancing yourselves by thinking seriously about what it is you really want to do in life post-service,” he advised.
Some stakeholders in goodwill messages praised Oyedeji for his dedication to duty and his humility and prayed to God to guide him in his future endeavour.
The valedictory ceremony was attended by the State Security Adviser, Air Commodore Jerry Omodara (Retd); Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Sule Eruwa, among other dignitaries.
All the security agencies in the state were all well represented at the occasion
