The FCT Commands of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Nigeria Police Force have reassured residents of adequate protection of lives and property.
This is contained in a statement by FCT NSCDC Spokesperson, Monica Ojobi on Thursday in Abuja.
According to her, the reassurance was made during a courtesy visit by the FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), Olatunji Disu, to the office of the FCT NSCDC Commandant, Olusola Odumosu.
The spokesperson said that Odumosu, while receiving the CP, emphasised that the visit would strengthen the already existing synergy between both security organisations.
Odumosu added that the visit would also foster service delivery and adequate protection of residents, not exempting Critical National Asset and Infrastructure (CNAI) in the FCT.
“Collaboration is crucial for achieving shared goals in maintaining peace and security as no single organisation holds a monopoly on fulfilling its responsibilities.
“ Unity and teamwork are essential in effectively addressing the challenges that bedevils FCT and the country at large,” he said.
Odumosu reiterated the Corps’ preparedness to effectively collaborate with the Police in ensuring crimes and other nefarious activities are nipped in the bud.
He warned those with criminal intentions during the Yuletide season to desist as both organisations were working strongly to ensure a peaceful Christmas celebration and holiday.
The commandant also urged residents to be security conscious and be proactive by informing security officials of any suspicious insecurity activities within their vicinity.
He described the CP as one of Nigeria’s finest Police commissioners with vast experience beneficial to addressing insecurity.
Responding, CP Disu underscored the critical importance of synergy between both organisations, stressing on the need for prompt intelligence report sharing.
He said that successful collaboration would also enhance training and engagement in sporting activities which will aid bridge the gaps between operatives of both organisations.
The CP assured the NSCDC FCT Command of his unwavering commitment in cultivating a robust relationship that will trickle down to officers and men of both agencies, particularly during field operations.
